Welcome to the The Ukrainian Cultural Center of Rochester official web site. Previously called the Ukrainian Home of Rochester, we have been serving the Rochester Ukrainian American community as a social and cultural center since 1955.

The current building was purchased in 2005 and is located on five acres at 1040 Jackson Road in Webster, NY. Our facilities include a large (250 seat) banquet hall, dance floor, meeting rooms, lounge, picnic grounds, sports field, pavilion and ample parking.

At present the UCC of Rochester provides accommodations for the Ukrainian American Youth Association (CYM), the Ukrainian Arts Foundation of Greater Rochester, and the Ukrainian Scouting Organization - USA (Plast).

Who We Are: The Ukrainian Cultural Center of Rochester Inc., is a not for profit organization supported by membership dues, donations, fundraising, and social events. To cover operating costs, our facilities are available to our members, member organizations, their families, their guests and the public for social functions.

MISSION STATEMENT: The Ukrainian Cultural Center of Rochester's mission is to provide the Ukrainian American community and their supporters a venue to promote Ukrainian cultural, and artistic traditions, through a social community environment.

History: Originally incorporated in 1955 as the Ukrainian Home of Rochester, the first building was located at 1492 Clifford Avenue and was originally a city fire house. The inside was remodeled into a hall and stage and contained meeting rooms on the upper floor with a lounge and kitchen in the basement.

Used primarily as a meeting place for social and cultural events, it provided the post WWII Ukrainian immigrant community and their children, a place to meet, socialize and participate in Ukrainian cultural and social activities.

The Ukrainian Home of Rochester or UHR housed and sponsored a variety of Ukrainian organizations engaged in cultural, musical, community, and athletic activities. These included: singing and dance groups, a mandolin orchestra, soccer team and volleyball team,

The building also housed the local chapter of the Ukrainian Youth Association (CYM) as well as other Ukrainian Organizations.

In 1986, the Clifford Avenue building was sold and a new building was constructed on a four acre site at 1970 Empire Boulevard, in Penfield, NY. Though the name was still officially the Ukrainian Home of Rochester, it was better known as the Ukrainian Club.

The new building had a large stage, dance floor, and a hall which could seat 400.

The outside area had a volleyball court, deck, soccer field and picnic area.

Due to increasing operating costs, taxes and a dwindling membership, the Penfield building was sold and demolished in 2005, and the current building on Jackson Road in Webster NY. was purchased. The Webster site had previously housed the local VFW Post and as such, contained many of the amenities we required.

In 2008 the name was changed to the Ukrainian Cultural Center of Rochester to better describes our current mission and purpose.
